We want to shine a light on your sustainability/environmental projects as part of ‘150 ways Schools show Climate Leadership’, our celebration of Canada’s 150th. Our first celebration was on Earth Day, April 22nd in Edmonton and it was so much fun, we're doing it again in Calgary, with the Education Minister and Environment and Parks Minister - and perhaps you, too! - as our invited guests.

November 4th, Calgary

With the Calgary Board of Education
Location: Lord Shaughnessy's Career & Technology Centre.
Purpose:

  • ​Teachers and students will showcase their work to education leaders, media and other environmental and energy education leaders.
  • Bringing together Alberta's education leaders to discuss their current realities and articulate next steps toward climate leadership for their school boards and schools.

 

We invite teachers from Alberta to be a part of the Calgary celebration! First step is for you to add a leaf to our climate leadership 'tree' by submitting your class or school's environmental stewardship actions or learning activities/projects by October 2nd, 2017 (link at bottom of page)! You will be entered into a draw for $50 MEC gift cards (we'll be drawing 5 names), and use your entry to build on our existing list of over 173 environmental and energy initiatives.

From the submissions, we'll use our selection criteria to invite around 20 teachers - and some of their students - to attend our November 4th celebration in Calgary. We have a limited budget so we will be selecting schools in the Calgary region and/or schools that may be able to cover their travel costs.
