Canadian Wildlife Federation is supporting BioBlitzes across the country in celebration of Canada 150. Alberta Council for Environmental Education, Weaselhead Preservation Society, Nature Calgary and the City of Calgary are working together to bring you the Calgary BioBlitz on Saturday June 24.

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz brings together expert naturalists, taxonomic scientists and citizens to inventory as many species as possible in a set amount of time. We currently have nine species blitzes happening on June 24. You sign up, meet us at the Weaselhead Natural Area (66 Ave & 37 St SW) and head out into the field with an expert to try and identify as many species as possible! Children must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult.

In addition to the species blitzes, we will have a community biodiversity fair set up, come learn about the plants and animals who make their home in Calgary and area. No need to sign up to attend this portion, just show up! This fair is family friendly and everyone is welcome!
